As a poet, psychologist and humanitarian aid worker; Husain has always been thinking creatively. He has not only provided humanity with several innovative and constructive thoughts but has also set up applicable means so that the society could adapt these innovations in practice. Some of his ideas are listed below:
SUKOON Sensory & Ultimate Knowledge On Observing Nature is a psycho-philosophical theory that is further developed as an approach for adequate mental health. The theory emphasizes the role of Nature in prevention from and response to psychosocial problems. It further focuses on the hidden senses and finally concludes that mind and soul are the same. As an approach, it provides practical means to cure psychosocial problems. Sukoon, as an organization, is a focal point for its broader implementations for entire humanity.
The Concept of Self Husain elaborates the roles of and differences among the outer self, the inner self, the ideal self and the real self. The outer self, often referred to personality, is developed by the conscious. The development of inner self relies on the unconscious. The sub conscious serves as a link between the outer and inner self. The ideal self is a collective unit for human beings and involves collective thinking. For Muslims, the ideal self is the inner self of Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him. The real self is the basis and essence for all other selves. For Muslims, the real self is the Almighty Allah. Life Healing Life Healing is a process comprised of different psychological exercises including four major sessions. The process is aimed at providing the participants with a logically elaborated and well defined purpose in life. Life Healing, from a perspective of SUKOON, is considered as the best preventive method to avoid psychosocial problems. View Details
Emotional Healing Several emotions are not usually experienced; hence need to be experienced either genuinely or artificially. Husain believes that emotions play a vital role in the development of one’s outer self and are extremely helpful to realize the inner, ideal and real self. He realizes that Islam, as a blind faith, is all about emotions. He has further developed several psychological and para-psychological techniques to experience the inexperienced emotions. Healing through Bodily Current The electric current within humans is considered “Life” and “physical energy” within SUKOON. The “psychic energy” on the other hand, is seen as mental energy and the life for mind. Husain believes that the imbalanced electric current and improper diet may stop an individual to realize selves other than the outer one. He, therefore in his psychotherapeutic settings, also focuses on the proper balance of physical and mental energies.
Definitions and Interpretations As issues like Mental Health, Psychological Wellbeing, Psychosocial Wellbeing, Psychosocial Problems, Psychosocial Approach, Psychosocial Issues of Concern, etc. are not well understood; Husain has provided with ease certain definitions to these concepts.
Psychological Insurance Husain has come up with the idea of Psychological Insurance, most probably for the first time ever. He suggests that within the insurance plans, psychosocial problems and psychosocial well-being of individuals should also be given the same importance as physical & psychiatric problems and medical treatment. An insurance policy holder, in other words, should also be financed for his / her psychotherapeutic and counseling needs. The members of Sukoon Club, by the way, are psychologically insured by Sukoon. View Details
Psychosocial Enterprise Development It is an idea to carry out mental health work and psychosocial support activities within villages by mobilizing the communities and capacity building of volunteer mental health workers. Sukoon Alliance, is a division within Sukoon, which intends to assist community based organizations for this purpose. View Details
Education for Psychosocial Growth Education in schools should not only be limited to the routine and traditional curriculum based teachings; it should rather focus on enhancing the skills of students to build respect for human rights and to understand themselves and others in a psychosocial context. The Education for Psychosocial Growth Program focuses on Educational Institutions e.g. schools, colleges, universities, etc. in order to help students and teachers in their psychosocial problems. The program covers a wide range of services involving Educational, Organizational, Social, Developmental, and Clinical Psychology. It facilitates Educational Administration to achieve maximum possible outcomes out of their institution. View Details
Psychosocial Stories Psychology is a complicated subject. As he innovated several ideas and practices in the subject; one of Husain's unique and useful innovation is to write short stories based on real life situations. These stories start with a scene observed by him in his day to day life and end at psychological justifications, descriptions and conclusions. The main objective to write these stories is to make Psychology simple and understandable for general public so that every individual, regardless of his/her educational background, could understand different psychological topics easily. The topics which Husain touches are generally related to daily psychosocial problems and issues of concern. Read Stories
Methodology to organize Training Workshops As Husain conducted several training workshops nationally and internationally, he has provided some guiding principles to organize workshops effectively in order to achieve the maximum possible learning objectives. View Details
Logical Frame Work Husain has also contributed to the documentation within humanitarian work and came up with a new format called “Project’s Conceptual Design" (PCD). This format is extremely helpful in reflecting the overall summary of a proposed, being implemented or implemented project. Download the format
