Sukoon ICBP - Standards for conducting Training Workshops

The ICBP intensively focuses on standardization in all its events and assures the quality standards are gratified in all its workshops. The major standards incorporated in its training workshops include:

Need based approach:

The ICBP conducts a brief need assessment survey before making training manuals and conducting training workshops. This survey is aimed at identifying the specific training needs of the expected participants.

Training Manuals:

The ICBP’s training manuals are based on adult learning techniques and do not necessarily emphasize on reading oriented material. The manuals, however, intend to provide the participants with maximum possible resource documents through printed and electronic means.

Workshop Environment:

The ICBP makes sure that the environment for workshops remains conducive to learning with sufficient space to carry out group works and other activities. The ICBP desires to provide a non-official environment to the participants for the workshop through which they would get relaxed after their routine work and would participate in the learning process with extreme motivation.

Activity based learning:

The training methodology of the ICBP is based on activity based learning and includes psychological principles for adult learning. The brain storming sessions and problem solving exercises intend to enhance the creative abilities of the participants to innovate work-based ideas. Different interesting and relevant material is also used for activities.

Extra training activities:

The ICBP desires to include extra training activities when the training course is longer. These activities mainly include learning trips, dinner, group photo sessions, etc.

Training Team:

The training team in the ICBP’s workshops is ideally half of the total number of the participants so that every participant is provided with individual attention during the learning course and is observed for changes progressively. The team members for workshops include the Lead Facilitators, the Co-Facilitators, the Assistant Facilitators, the Resource Persons, the Training Assistants, the Helpers and the External Observer. The external observer is invited as a third party to monitor the entire process and to evaluate it thereafter.

Follow up and Post-Training Support:

The ICBP provides post-training support to the participants by providing them technical advice and on job assistance for a period of six months after the training. It also evaluates the impact of its training after six months of each workshop.

Thus, the ICBP intends to remain a unique program for institutional capacity building in Pakistan by offering more than 30 training workshops in the areas of Human Rights, Psychosocial Support and NGO Management.
